About
    Studio Basan

Studio Basan is the creative web outlet of Berlin based artist Alp Seyrekbasan, whose work spans the intersection of new media, music, and technology. It's an ongoing experiment, a journal, a place to learn, share, fail, recreate, and build again. It documents projects, expresses ideas, while offering a place to exercise web design and front-end web development. It is always open for collaboration, artistic exchange, and skill-sharing.

    Alp Seyrekbasan

I am a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and musician originally from Istanbul and currently living in Berlin. I have a creative practice that spans web, graphic, and sound design, in which I blend these mediums to craft unique experiences.
Under the alias Basan, I produce and perform live electronic music(often in collaboration with visual artists), where I embrace an intuitive, exploratory, and experimental approach to sound. With my work I aim to call on emotions, stimulate the audience, and translate what lies inside to the external world.

Transit Cadence Performance, Various Places, 2025

Transit Cadence is an audiovisual performance aimed at reinterpreting the language of the city. It explores the rhythmic nature of the urban space, as well as its phonetic quality. The cyclical nature of everyday life is bound to be repeated again and again, but never quite revealing a specific pattern. It is a combination of moments forever in collision adding new perspectives and variations to the monotonous routines of the metropolis.

Typeface Experiment I Graphic Design & Creative Code, Internet, 2025

Typeface Experiment I is an algorithmic typography project based on a 5x7 grid with a scalable box structure. The idea came first as a creative challenge with the intention of being able to distort and transform basic modular lettter and number shapes. Each letter is represented through the use of a binary matrix, which tells the program to either fill the box or not thus creating the characters form. The ratio and size of each box can be adjusted through the code.

The code can be previewed and edited through this link on p5.js web editor.

New Media Artist Statement Generator Generative Web Application, Berlin, 2025

New Media Artist Statement Generator was an online tool designed for new media artists and designers looking to enrich their artist statements with the help of artificial intelligence. Users could choose and describe concepts and media, guiding the AI in crafting their personalized text. It aims to work both as a useful tool for creating essential texts for artist statements and a critique against the over-complication of language used within the contemporary art world.
It has been showed as the final project of my Master's Thesis in New Media Design at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences.

    Performance Anxiety Collaboration, Berlin, 2024

Performance Anxiety is the collaborative audiovisual performance project of Antonia Angel and Alp Seyrekbasan. Starting as an improvised set at Berlin's Urban Spree for the exhibition titled 'Phenomenal Orchestra' showcasing the artist Makoto Inoue's works, the duo continued to collaborate together and performed in various spaces and events such as AVJam at Motion Lab and Nutopia at Zemin Art Gallery in Berlin.

    Bloomscapes Performance, Berlin, 2024

Bloomscapes is an interactive media performance exploring the journey of the self in an unknown world. Its story unfolds in four chapters, beginning with vulnerability and confusion, and ending in resilience and tranquility. Through sound and image the body traverses different emotional states. It acts and reacts to the media, while at the same time affecting the audiovisual scenery. Improvised elements, which emerge from the interconnectedness of the sonic and visual systems contrast with the choreography and create moments of tension and release. Through the feedback loop between each performer Bloomscapes aims to break the barrier between what is in our control and what is not.
